Additional descriptive notes (if applicable): the full text of the postcard reads: Cockermouth, Main Street. In the wide main street of this historic town it is the statue of Earl Mayo which attracts visitors interest. He was M.P. for Cockermouth for 10 years, became Viceroy of India and fell by assassination in the Andaman Islands in 1872.
