Seller's Description

This is a postcard with a view of the quays and town at Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique, seen from the sea.   It is dated 26 March 1965 on the back.

A merchant ship and a small warship can be seen.  I believe the warship, from its pennant number of A525, is the Portuguese hydrographic/survey ship ‘NRP Almirante Lacerda’, formerly the Royal Canadian Navy minesweeper HMCS Caraquet (see more here).  She was certainly operating in the waters off Mozambique at this time.

The card is in fair condition with minor wear to the corners and edges.
