Pair of Handmade First Nations Native Work Riding Gloves Size Large
Some stitching has come apart on these gloves. They also have some wear holes in them.
These gauntlet style gloves feature decorative stitching in the form of flowers and lovely tassels on one edge.
They seem to be a size large to XL as I wear and XL men’s glove and these fit a little tight on me. They measure 12-1/2 inches (31.7 cm) long X 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) at the cuff and 5 inches (12.7 cm) at the base of the thumb. They weigh about 7 ounces (180 gr).
Some of the stitching has come apart. As seen in the pictures, the right hand thumb is half detached from the glove. Also the left hand glove has 2 fingers that have stitching that need attention. I see 3 small holes worn into the fingers of the right hand glove: The bottom of the front of the index finger; and on the fingernail areas of both the ring and middle fingers. The left hand glove thumb has a small ½” slice in the front (palm side). +The lining on the inside of the right hand glove has a large tear in it.
The glove have a very light smoke smell to them that is overpowered by an old grease smell similar to what you would get off am old farm truck.
The 3-1/2 inch tassels are all there in good condition.
With a bit of TLC these could once again be a great pair of gloves to display or use.
I am unsure of the history on these gloves. I bought them at an antique auction that was selling items from the early 1800’s thru to the 1950’s from a museum in a small campground not too far from my home.
The gloves will be bagged in a poly Ziploc bag and shipped in a padded envelope.
