Seller's Description
Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of ENID STAMP-TAYLOR in the 1937 Marcel Varnel Comedy OKAY FOR SOUND.
Enid Stamp-Taylor (1904 - 1946) was born in Monkseaton, Whitley Bay, Northumberland and educated as a boarder at Polam Hall School in Darlington between 1912 and 19. Success in a beauty contest while at school led her to study for the theatre. She made her theatrical debut in the chorus of 'A - Z' at the Prince of Wales theatre in London in 1922. One of her earliest film roles was in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Easy Virtue” (1928) and later appeared with George Formby in “Keep Your Seats Please” (1936) and “Feather Your Nest”. She appeared with Flanagan & Allen in “O-Kay For Sound” (1937) and “Underneath the Arches” (1937).
The portrait is by Otto Dyar (1892 - 1988). Otto Dyar was a prominent stills photographer who began his career at the Paramount studios in the 1920s. Initially working as an assistant on major film productions such as the 1927 'Wings', Dyar quickly rose through the ranks to become one of Hollywood's most notable image-makers.
The portrait is in very good condition with slight surface creasing.
