You are buying a pair of  NE From  Danish Cufflinks  that I believe were made during the 1960’s This is a very rare example of Froms’ Modernist Sculptural style. The majority of From designs are based in nature, principally reflecting floral and leaf shapes either reflecting decorative or minimalist designs. These sculptural cufflinks are UNUSUAL.

Needs a clean, been in storage for years !

 

NE From 1908 - 1982

 

Danish jeweller and silversmith Niels Erik From ( N.E. From) opened his first workshop in 1931. Over the next forty years  he went on to be recognised within Danish design, and  created many works including floral-inspired designs often set with semi-precious gemstones. These pieces took inspiration from the Scandinavian arts and crafts movement (Skønvirke). This movement usually took inspiration from nature with designs incorporating flowers and floral motifs as well as featuring natural creatures such as fish.

 

N.E. From’s output generally displays one of two distinct styles. In the early years of production he produced wiry, thin, foliage and floral pieces .However, beginning in the 1950's the work produced by From had a very different look. The later pieces have modernist, clean lines with geometric and abstract shapes. Occasionally the modern designs show nature as inspiration with abstract blossom and  leaf and blossom shapes. In generally though, they follow the trend of the 1950s of minimalist  appearance
 

In 1960, From’s son-in-law Hilmer Jensen joined the company and took over its management, after his father’s death in 1982. However, the company lost money and closed in 1990.

 

Why Use Cufflinks

The Event

Your cufflinks can easily be worn with formal attire for weddings, funerals, and black tie parties. Care should be taken to select just the right, style, colour and maker of the cufflinks to match the event and shirt colour. Silver works particularly well with a white shirt.

However, there are many other types of events where cufflinks may be worn that are not formal, such as family get-togethers, your child's school play, or  at a dinner. At these times, cufflinks can still be the perfect option for adding a touch of your individualism to your ensemble, however, best to avoid the tacky ‘novelty’ cufflinks, but a well-chosen piece of artwork will establish credibility and knowledge at the right event.

People who wear cufflinks are respected, and the reason that they are respected is because they themselves are showing respect. A UK based successful bidder has only 4 clear days from the day after the auction closes, to have funds deposited with me, a buyer from abroad also has only 4 clear days. Any failure to supply funds by the specified time will result in an automated complaint to being an automated process and is beyond my control

When sold as ‘Working’ the meaning of ‘Working’ is that the goods will only conform to the auction ‘Description’ of the function of goods and will not be warranted to conform to the original specification in any way. If described as ‘Working’ this means the goods were tested or examined in some imprecise way some months before sale and they were ‘Working’ then and put into storage. There is no implication that they will work in any way that meets your expectations upon delivery that have not been advised to me before your bidding or buying except as arising from the implication of the previous test or examination. ‘Working’ when applied to mains supplied equipment specifically means that they were tested on a temporary basis by a trained electronics technician. You must have the item tested and if necessary rewired by a person qualified to do so before plugging anything into the mains regardless of your perceived abilities. ‘Untested’ means that no power has been applied or any other means of testing has taken place, however there may be a part physical examination of the goods which forms part of the description. Electrical and electronic goods are sold for restoration and display purposes only. I reserve the right to remove any bidders, who do not meet any of my auction conditions, or who have negative feedback and I reserve the right to block bidders for any reason and advise others that I have done so and why. Where items are supplied as wrapped, or new, and are then opened, or used, or altered in any way by the buyer, there will be no refunds under any circumstances.
