• The Lunar Prospector mission was a NASA satellite placed into orbit around the Moon that mapped: the chemical composition of the surface, the gravity and the magnetic field. It also detected hydrogen inside permanently shadowed craters at the lunar poles – which inferred the possible presence of water ice in these cold traps. It ran from Jan 11 – Jul 31, 1998.
• The CD-ROM has been checked on a PC and no disk faults found
• The CD jewel case cover says it will work on Windows 95 or on Macintosh System 7 and above (System 8 compatible)
• You may find however that the installation software may not install correctly on more modern PCs and Macs – e.g. the QuickTime viewer is quite old. You have been warned !
• However, there are plenty of .PIC and .JPG images which can be viewed covering the preparation and launch which you can view with other picture viewers
• There are also lots of .MOV format videos of interviews with Prospector scientists and engineers and 3D animations which can be viewed with various movie players other than what is provided on the CD-ROM
• This CD-ROM will be of interest to those collecting space stuff, space historians, those who might have worked on the mission, amateur astronomers interested in the Moon etc
• Buyers from outside the UK are responsible for any custom duty or import taxes
