Original 1876 11 3/4 inch x 8 3/4 inch Steel Engraving titled MARY STUART, QUEEN OF SCOTLAND
Mary, Queen of Scots, also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I, reigned over Scotland from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567. Mary, the only surviving legitimate child of King James V, was six days old when her father died and she acceded to the throne. Her complicated personal life and political immaturity eventually led to her execution by Elizabeth I.

From the original by Paris Bordone (1500 - 1571). Paris Bordone was an Italian painter of the Venetian Renaissance who, despite training with Titian, maintained a strand of Mannerist complexity and provincial vigor.
