This is a finely hand carved Lucky Trunk Up elephant made from Makrana Marble stone and completely hand painted. The elephant is believed to be a sign of good luck and fortune. Elephant trunks being up is a sign of good luck, prosperity, and a warm and welcoming heart.

White Makrana Marble (Indian marble) has been prized for its use in sculptures since classical times. This preference has to do with its softness, which makes it easier to carve and gives it good resistance to shattering. Also, the low index of refraction of calcite allows light to penetrate several millimeters into the stone before being scattered out, resulting in the characteristic waxy look which gives “life” to marble sculptures of any kind, which is why many sculptors preferred and still prefer marble for sculpting.
