Original Polish 27 inch x 37 inch Poster for the 1981 Andrzej Wajda Drama MAN OF IRON (CZLOWIEK Z ZELAZA) starring Jerzy Radziwilowicz, Krystyna Janda, Marian Opania, Boguslaw Linda and Wieslawa Kosmalska.
Wajda’s impressive sequel to “Man of Marble”, dealing with the rise of Poland’s Solidarity movement and its leader Lech Walesa from the student reform movemnet of 1968 to the solidariry strikes in 1980. Shot in documentary style, making extensive use of newsreel footage and interviews, the film is equally successful as a historical document and as entertainment. Opania plays a reporter handling the Gdansk shipyard strike for radio; Janda’s a dissident documentarist married to the son of the worker hero she researched.
The poster art is by Rafal Olbinski. Born in 1943 Olbinski is a Polish illustrator, painter, and educator, living in the United States. He is considered one of the major representatives of the Polish School of Posters.
The poster is in very good unfolded (rolled) condition with a soft crease in the top left corner.
