Seller's Description

Detailed Condtion : Please see item description for details.

Lot of 90 (Ninety) 22 kt Authorized Gold Replicas of United States Stamps

plus First Day of Issue postage stamps

and Keepsake Album

This is a very large lot of items as follows:

Each thin plastic holder measures about 8 inches by five inches and holds a set of three envelopes, measuring about 7.5 by 4 inches and three "identification" cards with the same measurements.

Each envelope contains a gold replica stamp, a hand canceled First Day of Issue Stamp postmarked from the First Day City and is accompanied by an Information Card.

The sealed envelopes are ivory colored heavy laid stock with an embossed gold foil eagle on the top left corner.  Beneath the gold eagle is a gold foil bordered square cut out about 2.5 by 2.5 inches with the title of the stamp below the border in black script.

The gold stamp is covered by a plastic holder which is set into a flocked dark maroon velvet background.

The postage stamp on which the gold replica is based is on the top right corner of the envelope.  It is hand cancelled with FIRST DAY OF ISSUE clearly visible beneath the stamp.  The post mark is to the left of the stamp.  Many of the envelopes have a printed address of the original owner (we've obscured the address in our photographs.)  All of the envelopes are sealed.  None of these envelopes were directly mailed and are in excellent condition.

On the back flap of the envelope is a brief statement:  "The authorized gold stamp replica preserved in this cover is produced under a non-exclusive licensing agreement with the United States Postal Service.  Stamp design (copyright) U.S. Postal Service.  Cover Design (copyright) Commemorative Society."

Replica stamps may be horizontal or vertical and of different sizes as are the original accompanying postage stamps.

Each stamp is also accompanied by an "information card" which identifies the First Day of Issue, First Day City, Stamp Designer and the history behind the stamp creation.  The information cards are on heavy laid stock with plain embossed borders.  They are in a variety of colors and the text is also in a variety of colors.

From text:

"Exact Replicas on a Gleaming Surface of Gold."

"For each important new U.S. stamp, skilled craftsmen hand inscribe every detail in deep-relief upon a die.  This die is then used to strike each replica on thin sheets of paper-backed 22kt gold foil.  The result is a masterpiece that precisely parallels the original while surpassing it in splendor!"

"Each 22kt Gold Stamp Replica becomes part of an Official First Day Cover - postmarked by U.S. Postal Authorities with the Official First Day Of Issue Postmark.  This cancellation certifies that each gold Stamp Replica is a limited edition that can never again be issued."

There are 27 plastic trays and one single envelope and card.

Also included are several pieces of ephemera related to the collection, including an advertising flyer detailing the collections.

The First Issue and Gold Stamp Replica Envelopes are as follows:

they are grouped as they were packaged in the trays, not in alphabetical or other order

Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.

Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.

Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges.

We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws.

During peak shipping times, it may take weeks to have your item clear customs.  We’ve had some items arrive in Europe in a week, but a package to South America once took six weeks to arrive!

Restrictions in your country may not allow us to ship certain items.

Many countries do not allow shipments of coins or precious metals, for example.  Some media, including computer software, music CDs or DVDs may be restricted for sale outside the United States.

VHS and DVDs are formatted differently for different countries.

If you are purchasing a VHS videotape, please note the format your machine requires before you make your purchase.  Most of our tapes are NTSC format (it is specified in the listing what the format is) which will not work in most video players in Europe and Australia.  We routinely contact anyone overseas who purchases a VHS video to ask them to check if their machine can play an NTSC tape before we ship.

Many DVDs also have a specific format by country.  If you are purchasing a DVD, please make sure the DVD is a format that will play in your machine.
