Original British 17 inch x 22 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1934 John Ford Adventure THE LOST PATROL, from the story "Patrol" by Philip MacDonald and starring Victor McLaglen, Boris Karloff, Wallace Ford, Reginald Denny, J.M. Kerrigan, Billy Bevan, Alan Hale Sr., Brandon Hurst, Douglas Walton, Sammy Stein, Howard Wilson and Paul Hanson.
Ford’s classic tale of a British army group lost in the Mesopotamian desert facing constant attacks from bloodthirsty Arabs. The ads promised ‘boiling passions in the burning sands’ and the intensity of the performances, especially from McLaglen and religious fanatic Karloff, convey much of this heat.
Most often found in Cinema Trade magazines of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. The two page spreads measuring 17x22 were particularly designed to be removed and used as posters by cinema managers. Very few of these trade magazines have survived and many of the adverts here are the only known British 'posters' for these titles.
The Advertisement is in very good condition with one vertical centre fold and staple holes.
