Original 11 3/4 inch x 9 1/2 inch Still of PIERRE BRASSEUR, SERGE REGGIANI & JEAN VILAR in the 1946 Marcel Carné Fantasy LES PORTES DE LA NUIT (THE GATES OF THE NIGHT), based on the ballet "Le rendez-vous" by Jacques Prévert.
In this strange French drama that takes place immediately after the Nazis freed Paris, a resistance hero meets an enigmatic harmonica-playing hobo. The wanderer represents Destiny, and it is he who leads the hero to the woman he had been searching for. But the woman is married to a war profiteer, and her Nazi-loving brother has just committed suicide.
The still is in very good condition with a credit list and synopsis tacked to the reverse.
