Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of NYDIA WESTMAN in the 1947 Joseph L. Mankiewicz Comedy THE LATE GEORGE APLEY, based on the play by George S. Kaufman

Born in New York in 1902, Nydia Westman was the daughter of actor-composer Theodore Westman and actress-playwright Lily Wren Westman, she began her career as a child, appearing in her family’s act. From the age of 16, she appeared in many Broadway and stock productions and from 1932 appeared regularly in films. A pudgy little woman, she played supporting roles, mainly comic, in many Hollywood productions, often as a nervous old maid.
