Seller's Description

Original Polish 23 inch x 33 inch Poster for the 1970 Andrzej Wajda Drama LANDSCAPE AFTER BATTLE (KRAJOBRAZ PO BITWIE), based on stories by Tadeusz Borowski and starring Daniel Olbrychski, Stanislawa Celinska, Aleksander Bardini, Tadeusz Janczar, Zygmunt Malanowicz, Mieczyslaw Stoor, Leszek Drogosz, Stefan Friedmann, Jerzy Oblamski, Jerzy Zelnik, Malgorzata Braunek, Anna German, Agnieszka Fitkau-Perepeczko, Alina Szpak, Józef Pieracki, Andrzej Piszczatowski, Bohdan Tomaszewski, Józef Harasiewicz, Stanislaw Michalski, Leonard Mokicz, Konrad Wawrzyniak and Leszek Kowalski.

The film tells the story of two young concentration camp survivors. In the opening sequence, Vivaldi's “Autumn” can be heard while the prisoners are liberated. A young Polish poet, Tadeusz, is asked by a pretty Jewish girl, Nina, to go with her to the West. His camp experience, however, prevents him from realizing the depth of her love for him, and he is reluctant to commit. Nina is accidentally shot dead by an American soldier, causing Tadeusz to cry for the first time in years. The shock of her death brings back the world of feelings suppressed by his Nazi captors, and allows for his original creativity to reemerge. The credits appear to the sound of Vivaldi's “Winter”.

Poster art by Jozef Mroszczak (1910 - 1975). Educated at State College of Decorative Arts and Industrial Design in Cracow, at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna and Graphische Lehr und Versuchanstalt in Vienna. He was a graphic designer and poster designer and winner of several design awards.

The poster is in very good folded condition. There is a small piece out of the top edge and a few edge tears.
