Original 1893 4 1/2 inch x 3 1/4 inch print titled LA BERGERE

Painted by Hippolyte Paul Vayson (1841 - 1911). A French painter. He was the son of a magistrate and studied law in Paris and become a lawyer while concurrently studding painting as a pupil of Charles Gleyre and Jules Laurens. Vayson was medalist at the 1875-8 Paris Salon and became a jury member of the Society of French artists (painting section). In 1879 he traveled to Algeria and returned with a harvest of sketches, watercolors and some paintings that earned him the label of Orientalist painter.
