Seller's Description
Original 10 inch x 8 inch Black and White Portrait of CEDRIC HARDWICKE in the 1937 Robert Stevenson Adventure KING SOLOMON’S MINES, based on the novel by H. Rider Haggard.
Adventurer Allan Quartermain (Hardwicke) leads an expedition into uncharted African territory in an attempt to locate an explorer who went missing during his search for the fabled diamond mines of King Solomon.
The portrait is by Otto Dyar (1892 - 1988). Otto Dyar was a prominent stills photographer who began his career at the Paramount studios in the 1920s. Initially working as an assistant on major film productions such as the 1927 'Wings', Dyar quickly rose through the ranks to become one of Hollywood's most notable image-makers.
The portrait is in very good condition apart from a 1/2 inch tear at the right edge and some creasing in the right border and minor surface marks.
