Seller's Description
Printed monochrome postcard showing a view by Essenhigh Corke of the King's Bedroom at Knole in Sevenoaks, Kent. This is a very early Salmon postcard, not listed amongst the early unnumbered Salmon cards in the appendix of Anthony Byatt's Picture Postcards and their Publishers, probably as that list was taken from the images used in the 1905 publication Guide to Sevenoaks and the photo used in this postcard is of questionable quality in comparison, so was not used in the Sevenoaks book. It is though no doubt contemporary with Nos 29-34 given in that list.
Published by J. Salmon, Sevenoaks, not numbered.
Postally used on 9 July 1904 with duplex SW17 London cancellation on green halfpenny stamp and sent to Miss Chapman, Towercroft, Purbeck Terrace Road, Swanage, Dorset.
Good condition, with slight corner bumps and light album marks, but small crease to top left corner and very light crease to bottom left corner.
