Kidnapped Original Pencil Cover Art by Dave Simons
Original Pencil Cover Art published many times over the years by Edcon Publishing Group for the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson for educational purposes. It is currently still in print in various forms. Research thus far indicates that the earliest publication date I could find online as a paperback version in 1992. However, I have emailed the publisher in hopes of finding out the original earliest publication date as it seems likely earlier (definitely seems done earlier).

I had this up for sale online (see below) as an unpublished Pirate sketch by Dave Simons and bronze-age artist Ken Landgraf saw the listing and was kind enough to contact me to provide me with identification of the piece. He emailed, "This pirate drawing was published by Edcon Imperial Books. I was the artist of the book and had Dave Simons pencil some of the pages. I inked the book and drew some of the pages. Dave had just moved to a new apartment and needed to pay the rent and asked if I had any work that he could do for me. As you can see this drawing was inked and colored by me for the book's cover of Kidnapped. Best, Ken.
Thanks again to Ken for being kind enough to identify this as the original pencils for the published cover which was inked and painted by him.
My original description details were: This splash was purchased as part of a group lot at auction some years ago. The description about it read, "a full-page uninked splash page for an unidentified pirate story. Graphite on Bristol, the image area measures 10" x 14", and the art is in Very Good condition with an uneven trim on the right side." At the top of the page the wording says 'The next time I woke up there was a man standing over me with a light. He cared for my cuts and gave me a drink." On the back of the page, it says "Dave Simons", "Simons", "Unpublished?" in different areas and in different handwriting. The bag it came in has writing that I've seen on numerous pages from Romitaman and says "Dave Simons". The board has small bits of light brownish stain in a few areas mostly at the top of the page should be somewhat evident in high resolution scan.

Combined shipping: I will gladly combine shipping for multiple lots. In order to combine shipping you must wait for a final revised invoice to pay. Please DO NOT PAY until you receive the revised invoice. Once you pay for an item, I must ship it and cannot hold it for combined shipping. If you pay prior to combined shipping and I try to refund after payment the savings will be lower due to fees involved. Usually additional pages can be added for only $1 more per page (sometimes slightly higher for West Coast-longer distances).
International Buyers: The Global Shipping program does not currently offer combined shipping. If you are an international buyer and want combined shipping you need to contact me PRIOR to your purchase to work it out. The only work around-around is to relist the artwork in one combined lot prior to your purchase. If you purchase individual listings then they must ship individually with separate fees by .
