Seller's Description
COR Ken Sturdy is one of the most respected D-Day Veterans and he was a leading Signal Officer and 41 Commando of the 4th Special Service during the D-Day Battle. This special commemorative issue (at the time of listing) appears unavailable worldwide (please search to confirm). In either instance it is extremely rare and is a 9" x 7" large commemorative cover devoted to the D-Day veteran showing a portrait of him as he looked at the time of D-Day, a scene of the actual battle he fought in, a portrait of him when signing the souvenir five years ago when he was over ninety years old. It is great condition (there is slight curvature from compression caused from the plastic wallet that kept it mint and perhaps light imperfections but overall this is outstanding condition graded ex minus). Ken Sturdy has hand signed the souvenir under his portrait perfectly positioned in large felt tip pen and I believe only 150 were produced for worldwide distribution which this was individually numbered 127 from the series. It is the ultimate souvenir of this historic 4th Special Service Brigade D-Day Veteran.
