Seller's Description

Juliano’s Hang It All Book #3 1976 Macramé Magazine 11 Craft Projects

The magazine has high humidity or light water damage. None of the pages had been stuck together, the only damage is that they are wrinkled.

The third book in the series of Juliano’s Macramé books. This magazine includes 11 Macramé projects ranging from plant hangers to wall hangings (See list below) The magazine is in usable condition, it has some wrinkling from being wet or damp. I don’t see any rips, tears, corner folding There is some writing on page 9 (Eyes of Isis) (See Pictures).

From the Magazine :

Juliano’s Hang It All

1. Snow Flake Cradle – Hanging Baby or doll Cradle
2. Black and White Harmony - Room Divider/wall hanging
3. Busy Bee Bag – Carry-all/purse
4. Goliath - Terrarium Hanger
5. Eyes of Isis – Wall Hanging (Has writing on page)

8. Super 6½ Yard – Plant Hanger
9. Rio Grande – Wall Hanging
10. Egyptian – Lamp/Plant Hanger
11. Van Drapes – Curtain

Snow Flake Cradle:
Materials Needed:
2 double 4 inch rings, welded, painted white (non toxic)
4-7 inch rings, painted white
1 ratan hanging chair placed on its side, painted white (non toxic)
300 yards #100 white cable cord
16-1¼ inch oval yellow beads
64-½ inch round yellow beads
4-1 inch round yellow beads
rubber bands
All items needed for comfort, mattress, pillows, blankets, etc.

Size:
Approximately 4 ft. x 5 ft.

Total Yardage:
300 yards

Comments:
This is cold water washable cotton cable cord, but you can use any color combination.
Use strong, secure hooks placed deeply in main studs, one yard apart.
Use non toxic paint.
Work panels together to keep an even look.

Black and White Harmony

Materials Needed:
384 yards white cotton cord #150 (This was done in Conso)
384 yards black jute 7 ply
265 yards of 5 ply black for wrap
2 Dowels 4 ft. long 1½ or 11/4
2 Dowels 6 ft. long
fishing line

Size:
4 ft. by 8 ft. Total Yardage:
Break down same as above.

Comments:
This was designed as a room divider but it looks real nice as a wall hanging, especially with a third color added. You must knot evenly. Over a long period of time the White Double Half Hitches on the Black turn kinda yellow, so it is best to put scotch tape over the Black part where the White is attached. Also you have to remember that the White cannot be cleaned. Therefore if you do not have children, husbands and friends or relatives White is fine. Other colors look fantastic like black and brown, natural and rust, do your own thing. Also check your ceiling height. This thing is Big.

Busy Bee Bag

Materials Needed:
1 pair wooden purse handles natural finish with 12 inch slit
399 yards of cotton seine size #36 or 1/8 inch
1/2 yard cream colored cotton or canvas
rubber bands approximately 75-80
cream colored cotton thread
large T pins
macrame board
ruler, acrylic paint, varnish

Size:
Macrame size, 11x12

Total Yardage:
399 yards

Comments:
This purse can be made without handles by using side holding cords 11 yards long each for strap. Check for fit. Add a zipper.
If you have a macrame board, line it off in 1 inch squares. Continuously pin work and line it up against squares to keep nice and even.

Use ruler to check. The eyes can be fooled.

Butterflies can sometimes get a little tangled. Take your time; it was a bit of a hassle for me, too. If you’re not a fringy person, tie off bottom when doing the sides.

Goliath

Materials Needed:
52 yards of 12 ply or 1/2 inch thick jute
9-1½ inch wood beads
2-5 inch rings soldered
12x12x14 inch terrarium

Size:
6 feet

Total Yardage:
52 yards

Comments:
If you don’t have a heavy, square terrarium, make the bottom a sling to fit any size pot.
You can use smaller jute, but total look will be small.

Eyes of Isis

Materials Needed:
1 wood board 6 ft. 8 inches, refer to comment.
1 1/2 pint of walnut wood stain
1 16” ring steel welded
6 2” rings
1 4” ring
476 yards dark brown jute /4 inch thick, #48
4, 5 or 6 ply
488 yards natural 5/32nd, #48, 4, 5 or 6 ply

Size:
6 ft. 8 inches by 3 ft.

Total Yardage:
Natural, 488 yards. Brown 476 yards. Total 960 yards. Comments:
This is a biggy — bigger than it looks.
Due to space we strive to keep the pattern simple but clear. Use any color combination you want, to suit your room. Measure all the time to keep all sections even. Not recommended for beginners. Board, 4 inches from each end, 1” from the bottom you are going to cut a slit where the jute will attach to the wood. The slit is 1/4 inch wide, now stain.

Yankee Doodle

Materials Needed:
114 wooden beads 1/2 inch long — 4 extra for red hanger
100 yards white cable cord size #150 or #100
2 rings 2½ inches
1 ring 5 inches
1 ring 8 inches

Size:
51/2 ft.

Total Yardage:
100 yards

Comments:
The red one is done with size #100 and the Blue and Brown are done in size #150 cable cord. Cotton dyes beautifully in cold water and softens up just a bit. Polyester will not dye. This looks easy and is easy but time consuming. Use any colored bead.

Ganada

Materials Needed:
1-72x1 inch dowel, stained walnut
34 wooden 1 inch beads
1 or 2-10 lb. bolts 5/32 jute or ¼ inch, dyed dark brown or bought in dark brown (approximately 400 yards per bolt)
4 packages cold water dye
136 yards very dark brown ¼ inch jute

Size:
72x42 inches

Total Yardage:
625 yards natural or light brown
136 yards dark brown

Comments:
If you desire this curtain the same as the photo, it has to be dyed in cold water. Try getting two different shades of brown if you want less work. Dying is a drag.
There will be a possibility of splicing so we won’t waste cordage. We spliced, so we’ve added extra yardage.

Super 6½ Yard

Materials Needed:
24 cords 61/2 yards long, natural or any color, 5/32 inch, or 1/4 inch, 4/48, 5/48, 6/48
4 2 inch beads
1 5 inch ring
1 2 inch ring

VARIATION:
12 cords 61/2 yards long, white cable cord size #100 or #150
1 4 inch ring
4 Dove birds

Variation on patterns at the end of page

Size:
5 ft. 6 inches

Total Yardage:
175 in the natural
97 in the white

Comments:
This originally was the direct result of a mistake. I cut 40 cords 5 yards long for a purse and it should have been 5½. The ½ was critical. So my darling dreamed this up for you with little more yardage to feel comfortable, but it is possible to do this one at 5 yards long maybe a little shorter. It’s good seller.

Rio Grande

Materials Needed:
176 yards of large Bleached jute, size 7 ply 1/3 inch thick, non fade
96 yards 7 ply jute Blue, 1/3” thick
110 yards Burnt Orange 5 ply 1/3” thick
100 yards Rust Orange 3 ply 1/4” thick
72 yards Natural, 5/32nd, 4/48th, 5/48th, 6/48th or 1/4 inch
2 dowels 3 ft. 6 inches long
Walnut stain
Fishing line 16 lbs. test
Large needle and thread or you can use nylon

Size:
3 ft. by 5 ft.

Total Yardage:
584 exact break down is given above

Comments:
In a room with a lot of sunlight jute will fade over a period of time. This can be remedied by buying non fade jute or after some time take a fat water-color paintbrush and with cold water dye dab onto the areas that have faded. This takes skill to achieve right color and care to avoid bleached jute in background. But don’t let colored jute, or problems stop you from creating, as all can be remedied. Not designed for beginners but advanced can do their own thing. You may have to splice but don’t freak out.

Egyptian

Materials Needed:
156 yards 5/32nd jute, 4/48th, 5/48th, 6/48th, or ¼ inch jute
40 yards Dark Brown jute 3 mm
20 yards Burnt Orange jute 3 mm
2 matching pots with drain holes and 3 holes on rim Top: 7½ inches by 7½ inches. Bottom: 9 inches by 6 inches
1 set of lamp parts
12 feet of electrical cord with plug
Glue
(Note: No rings, no beads)
Scraps for a fat tassel

Size:
6 feet, 5 inches

Total Yardage:
156 yards Natural
60 yards colored jute

Comments:
On wrapping, you can add extra color, rewrap, start and stop anyplace and if it is in jute, it will not be seen where you end if you are working in one color. Notice where the electrical cord is? Pattern is not recommended for beginners.

Van Drapes

Materials Needed:
366 yards of 5/32 or ¼ inch jute
16 beads ½ inch long
4 dowels approximately ¼ inch thick with holes drilled each end. A Woolworth item.

Size:
22¾ X 19¼ inch window not including tassels. Pattern is for 2 rear windows.

Total Yardage:
440 yards

Comments:
Diamond pattern is for interest. You can eliminate diamonds and have just cords hanging with beads on center cords; but do Alternating Square knots down another inch or two.
Measure windows carefully. For side windows that are wider, length of cords are the same. Each diamond takes 16 cords or 4 Square knots. You will have to calculate your width. (For a 4 foot 10 inch side window, mount 112 cords.)
Do your own thing; but keep in mind your time, and how much privacy you want.

The magazine measures approximately 27.7 X 21.5 X 0.2 cm (10-15/16 X 8-5/16 X 1/8 Inch). It has 20 pages, not including the covers and weighs approximately 3 ounces (87 grams). Shipping weight will be 120 grams.
