Original U.S. 27 inch x 41 inch 1-Sheet Poster for the 1977 Fred Zinnemann Drama JULIA, based upon the story by Lillian Hellman and starring Jane Fonda as Lillian Hellman, Vanessa Redgrave, Jason Robards Jr., Hal Holbrook, Rosemary Murphy, Maximilian Schell and and Meryl Streep.
Three actors grab their chances in Zinnemann’s handsome film of author Lillian Hellman’s memoir of her lover, the author Dashiell Hammett, and her wealthy friend Julia who draws her into activism in 1930s Europe. The themes of friendship, love and politics are handled lightly for such weighty topics, allowing the personal stories and then a wartime adventure to dominate. Fonda is the glue that holds it together, but her reward was only to see Robards and Redgrave take the Oscars as Hammett and Julia.
