This is an authentic 8x10 autographed photo of the one and only, late great AVN Hall of Fame member Kay Taylor Parker. I guarantee you it's authentic and give you a few reasons why buy from me. The photo for the listing is the exact autograph you will get. I do have several different autographs of Kay, so if you prefer another one besides the one depicted in the photo, let me know and I can show you some of the others.
How do I, the seller, know this is authentic?
That's an easy question. Below is a photo of Kay Parker and I from March 25th, 2021. Kay and I had just eaten lunch at the Wokcano in Burbank, CA, which we were standing outside of while I took this selfie. I'm honored and privileged to be able to say that Kay was a friend. I truly love Kay, and one of the biggest attributes of Kay that I love is her humility. What other celebrity would take time to meet a regular person like me? Not only that, she was going to pay for my lunch. But I insisted I pay for the both of us, and cover her gas money plus some, which I did. Even if we were long distance friends, we were friends, and I had many phone and email conversations with her. Several years ago, I purchased several autographed photos from her in bulk and I resold most of them on another marketplace (I won't sell these on that marketplace any more because the marketplace favors dishonest buyers at the expense of sellers). A few years ago, I learned she was no longer signing autographs, and I made the decision to hold back what inventory I have left until after her passing. Now that Kay has passed and joined the ranks of star beings, I am listing them for sale. So, to answer the question, I know these are authentic because I purchased them straight from Kay, and I knew Kay. I've met Kay, and I have email and phone texts to prove everything I write. I am not saying this to claim accoldes or brag, but to reassure you of its authenticity.
Why buy from me?
As I thought about what price to ask, I couldn't help but have the question: am I being greedy and taking advtange of Kay in some way? If I couldn't answer that question, I wouldn't be listing this for sale, as I could never do anything I felt was dishonoring Kay. Here's what I will say. While Kay was alive, I had sold several autographed photos of her at a much lower price (i.e. less than $100). I have sold some other Kay related items. If that was in any way my day job, I would be starving, because I also went out of my way to gift Kay money (sending her $77 on her 77th birthday). Subtracting what I paid for the autographs, plus marketplace fees, plus shipping costs, plus what I gifted Kay over the years, I have most likely came a bit less than breaking even with my costs. It wouldn't take much to erase all margin, given it wasn't a huge quantity of items I sold. Of course, gifting Kay wasn't a cost, but a benefit, and I helped Kay out with pleasure.
I'm a military veteran who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps infantry for 4 years on active duty. I also have a service connected injury/disability, which makes me a disabled veteran. See the photo below of my fused right shoulder. Because of my physical disability, I have struggled with employment. I have had one part of the VA, i.e. the claims side, deny claims for an increase in my rating on the basis that my fused shoulder in no way negatively impacts my employment (written by somebody who has never met me). I have had another part of the VA, i.e. the education side, deny me education benefits on the basis I'm "too disabled" to go to school (written by somebody who has never met me). Neither of those assertions made by the different parts of the VA are true. But the point is I have had to deal with two different parts of the VA using mutually exlusive arguments to deny me of some benefit.
Given my circumstances, I certainly couldn't afford to pay for school myself. I've found that work gaps beget bigger work gaps. Just the fact I had to take time off work after my shoulder was fused kept me from being able to get a job for a long time afterwards. Whether it's right or not, most employers conflate a degree with an education and an education with a degree. Without schooling, and having a fused shoulder that put me out of work for many months, meant that when I was offered jobs, they were low paying and high turnover jobs because many of them were so physically demanding even a person without a fused shoulder would leave. And I have had to leave several jobs precisely due to my fused shoulder. And from leaving jobs so quickly because of that, I would get passed over for the jobs I can do. I'm in the fifth decade of my life and I never landed what I would call a decent job until the end of 2021. And the only reason I landed it is because I took my very scarce resources and did what I could to overcome the hand I've been dealt. How so? I earned insurance, real estate, and mortgage loan originator licenses in the last few years. In order to pay for those licenses (e.g. course materials, exam fees, licensing fees), I had to use a high interest rate credit card. The government hasn't bailed me out to pay for what are objectively my student loans. Instead, I had to work to pay off that credit card.
So far, the only license that's really paid for itself is the insurance license, as I worked in the insurance industry until the company I worked for jettisoned their license service department in 2023. It took me a long time to get that job, and I didn't get it with help from the VA. My story is one of perserverence. I have gone many years barely able to make ends meet. I am by no means wealthy and if anybody deserves something good, it's me. Knowing what a great person Kay was, I am sure she would be smiling with each and every autograph of hers that I sell.
NOTE: I selected 3 days of dispatch time to give myself time to ensure this gets shipped in a safe and secure manner. ZELLE is my preferred payment method, although I do accept alternatives.
