Roofings are constructed of successive layers of either asphalt or tar saturated asbestos, or asphalt saturated rag, roofing felts, alternated with layers of either asphalt or pitch.
This 1933 unique 3 page building construction catalog contains a small amount of residual glue, and the pages are loose. There are damp stains on page edges. It would make a marvelous addition to your engineering library.
