This is an excellent resource for any John Wayne fan. I've been collecting DVD's of his movies for years, and now have well over a hundred of them. I always use the filmography list on Wikipedia when I'm looking for movies I don't have yet, but this guide will do the trick nicely. Movies 117-169 are listed along with the release date, director, and character played by Wayne. Then, starting with 116, each movie gets a synopsis/commentary, which gradually grow larger as you progress up the list. It's noted from the start that a formula was devised for ranking the movies using scores from critics and fans. I was surprised by a few of the placements, on both ends of the spectrum. I couldn't believe Sons of Katie Elder was as low as it was, but happy to see that personal favorites like Chisum and Big Jake from Wayne's late-era made it fairly high on the list. I have a few other John Wayne magazines, but this one will end up being the most read. While the magazine articles usually have a variety of angles, this one is focused almost exclusively on the movies, and that's my main interest when it comes to John Wayne. If you're a big Wayne fan, you will get a lot of use out of this. I've only had it for a week, and I've already gone through it about ten times.
