Happuri Quilt
Approximate quilted size: 74½” x 92”
Happuri means “head and cheek cover” in Japanese. Samurai warriors wore these helmets for protection. Happuri was chosen as the title for this quilt design because of the four helmet shaped blocks in the corners.
Fabric Requirements:

Kaleidoscoping Fabric: This quilt has 18 circle blocks. The amount of fabric you need for kaleidoscoping circles depends on the length of your repeats. The greater the distance between repeats, the more circle squares you will be able to make. We use the following guidelines for how many circles you will get from varying lengths of repeats in the fabric you choose. We recommend that you not use a fabric with a repeat that is less than 11 inches. Most repeats are approximately 12”, 18”, or 24”.
Background Fabric:
+ Background fabric for circle squares —2¼ yard
+ Background fabric for quarter & half square triangles —2½ yard
Backing: 6 yards
Other Materials Needed:
+ Template plastic or acrylic 7” templates
+ 45 mm rotary cutter
+ 6” x 24” long cutting ruler
+ 9” x 9” squaring ruler
+ Flat-headed pins
+ Tape
