Original 1851 8 3/8 inch x 5 inch engraving titled GRADUATION. SIMMS’S SELF ACTING CIRCULAR DIVIDING ENGINE.

William Simms (1793 – 1860) was a British scientific instrument maker. His reputation was enhanced by the improvements he made to graduating instruments and his self-acting circular dividing engine reduced the work involved in manufacture from weeks to hours. He also helped standardize the measures of length the yard and chain for the Admiralty.

Engraved by George Gladwin (active 1821 - 1854).

From the ‘Cyclopaedia of Useful Arts & Manufactures’ edited by Charles Tomlinson and Published by George Virtue & Co,, London & New York (1851).

The page size is 6 1/4 inch x 9 1/2 inch

The print is in very good condition with very small stain bottom centre. Reverse side blank.
