NOVO-GLOSS provides accurate gloss measurement on any surface from matt to mirror finish. Applications include:

PAINTED SURFACES - Initial appearance and aging

HIGH GLOSS PAINTS - QC in automobile manufacture

PLASTICS - molded and etrxuded, e.g. auto trim, window frames, ect.

STONEMASONRY - Polished marble and granit for floors, etc.

WAXES & POLISHES - cars and tiled floors

MIRROR FINISH METALS - chromework and lobby decorations

FURNITURE - natural wood finish and varnishing

METALS - plated or grain finish

PAPER - printing, roughness and quality

CERAMICS - tiles, bathroom furniture, etc.

FOOD PROCESSING - cheeses, glazing, etc.

COSMETICS - lip-gloss, nail varnish, etc.

TEXTILES - camouflage matt to shiny silk

Robust hand-held instruments, they are powered by an internal rechargable battery, and may be used on the mains with the adapter provided. They meet international specifications for the measurements of gloss on paints, plastics, paper, card and metals.

The accuracy is comparable to that of large laboratory instruments. Readings are captured in 3 seconds to be displayed in increments of 0.1 gloss units. The special features are the stabilization circuits and second sensor which correct for changing the battery voltage and lamp aging.

A new patented optical arrangement ensures excellent long term stability. The base plate which also provides the optical mounting is machined from a single aluminum section to provide the stability of an optical bench.

Continuous readings for variable surfaces - holding the read button allows continual measurements. Simultaneously moving the instrument over an irregular finish allows rapid assessment of average gloss over a large surface area

Each instrument is supplied conforming to all the standards in regular text for the corresponding angle. Instruments conforming to the standards in italics are available on request. Standards may be mixed on multi-angle instruments.

APPLICATIONS

All NOVO-GLOSS instruments are supplied with a certified calibration standard with a value near to the ideal 100 value and traceable to NRC/BAM. Calibration is a simple process, taking a matter of seconds, and a zero standard is also supplied. In compliance with ISO 9000, standards should be re-calibrated annually, and checked for damage or degradation.
