Original 1893 8 inch x 6 1/2 inch Engraving titled THE GAME-KEEPER

A man shouldeering a shotgun with four dogs in a wooded glade.

From the painting by Contant Troyon (1810 - 1865). A French painter of the Barbizon school. In the early part of his career he painted mostly landscapes. It was only comparatively late in life that Troyon found his métier as a painter of animals, and achieved international recognition.
