Frank, L. On the Long Road (AN DER LANDSTRASSE)./Frank, L. Na bolshoy doroge (AN DER LANDSTRASSE). Franks first book, Die Rauberbande, published on the eve of World War I. In 1915, Frank was forced to emigrate to Switzerland because of his avowedly anti-militaristic stance. In November 1918, Frank returned to his homeland, settled in Munich, published a series of short stories in Berlin: An der Landstrasse, An Official (Der Beamte), The Bridge of Destiny (Die Schicksalsbrucke, 1925).
