Original French 11 inch x 15 1/4 inch page with printed watercolour titled ANCIEN POSTE ALLEMAND A CARENCY
Carency is a farming village located 8 miles northwest of Arras.
Watercolour by François Flameng (1856 - 1923). A notable French painter during the last quarter of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th. Flameng later received renown for his painting of World War I. He was named honorary president of the Society of Military Painters and an accredited documenter for the War Ministry. His work was displayed in the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris, as well as being reproduced in news magazines.
On the reverse is another watercolour by François Flameng titled DANS LES TRANCHEES DE NOTRE-DAME-DE-LORETTE APRES UN ORAGE (IN THE TRENCHES OF NOTRE-DAME-DE-LORETTE AFTER A STORM)
