" It's the year 2257 A.D. when the far off star called Altair-IV, occupied by three lone inhabitants, is visited by a search party from Earth. Professor Morbius, played by Walter Pidgeon, is a fugitive superscientist who has decoded the secrets of an extinct master-race and created a weird world of futuristic marvels.
Anne Francis is his daughter Altaira, a bewitching innocent who has lived her whole life in this realm of splendors and knows no man but her father. At their beck and call is Robby the Robot, an endearing machine who speaks 187 languages, and can produce anything from hors d'oeuvres to emeralds. What happens when the space cruiser captained by Commander Adams (Leslie Nielson) lands on this outer-space paradise makes for a spine-chilling, flamboyant fantasy combining romance, humor, and suspense. The film rushes to a fiery climax when an unknown terror, impervious to man-made weapons, threatens to destroy all.
