Original 1887 6 5/8 inch x 10 inch engraving titled THE EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN AND ALBERT DURER
Imagined scene of the artist Dürer at the top of a ladder in front of an outline of a painting, Maximilian addressing a group of people, his hand gesturing towards the artist.
Engraved by Thomas Brown (active 1867 - 1887).
After Wilhelm Guillaume Koller (1829 - 1884). An Austrian historical Painter. First studied painting at the Academy if Fine Arts in Vienna under Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller, after which he continued his studies from 1851 to 1855 in Dusseldorf.
