Interesting FAO coin in nice condition with the ancient ship, representing Freedom and vivid harvest scene on reverse. This reverse was in use from 1976 and recently two dies of it were discovered with the help of this very coin. Simultaneously it was proved that the 10 years gap in coinage produced new style of the obverse. There are a lot of differences between the dies, hundreds of coins were passed to mark a feature, which is easy for attribution.
Two may styles of obverse. are known.
Die I - dash between dates is wide and tilted.
Die II - dash between dates is narrow and horizontal.
The reserve is divided into two groups too.
Die A1 1976 - wide pipe of tractor, legends far from rim, two lower dots at دينار large.
Die A2 1997 - wide pipe of tractor, legends closer to rim, two lower dots at دينار smaller and elongated.
Due to the discovery this coin is attributed as I+A1. The discovery is to be published in the Numista catalog with the images of this very coin to introduce for the first time the complete classification of the emission. To be published at en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1206.html.
