Gustav von Schlör (1820-1883) war ein vehementer Befürworter eines flächendeckenden Eisenbahnnetzes. Als Direktor der privaten Ostbahngesellschaft setzte er im Bayerischen Landtag den Bau der Bahnlinie von Schwandorf über Weiden nach Bayreuth durch und legte damit einen Grundstein für die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der strukturschwachen Region.

150th ann. of Railways. Gustav von Schlör (1820-1883) enforced the idea of a countrywide railway net. When he was the director of the Eastern Railways he encouraged the Bavarian parliament to decide for the construction of a new railway line from Schwandorf via Weiden to Bayreuth, thus improving the infrastructure and economic development of this region.
