Seller's Description

Auf dem ersten Testflug verunglückte LZ 4 1908 bei Echterdingen. Einer der Zuschauer rief spontan zu einer Spendenaktion auf, die eine beispiellose Welle der Hilfsbereitschaft im ganzen Land auslöste. Diese sog. "Volksspende" ermöglichte einen Neubeginn des Luftschiffbaus.

Centenary of the accident of Zeppelin LZ-4. During the first demonstration flight, LZ-4 crashed near Echterdingen in 1908. One of the spectators in the crowd spontaneously initiated a collection of donations, the so-called "Volksspende" which  enabled a new beginnig to the Zeppelin construction.
