ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN # 467 – June 1990 – “Dark Knight over Metropolis!” Clark Kent finds a note left by Batman in his apartment and looks for him. Batman sneaks inside the morgue and takes the fingerprints of a female victim, with a police guard triggering the alarm. Superman hears the alarm, expecting to find Batman, but instead finds Gangbuster, watching over Cat Grant's house. Batman asks Superman to talk privately. When they leave, Gangbuster is attacked and held captive by Shockwave and Chiller, two killers hired by Intergang after Blindspot's failure to kidnap Grant. Batman explains to Superman about two connected deaths related to radiation. He shows a reconstruction of the female body's face, and Superman is shocked to find out its Amanda McCoy, connected to LexCorp and the Kryptonite Ring she used on him. Batman is in possession of the ring but doesn't tell him. They go to the Zenith Awards, hosted by Lex Luthor, in their civilian clothes, where they meet Lex Luthor, and Luthor thanks Kent for saving his life a few months ago. Intergang's forces interrupt the ceremony, Lex saves Kent from a blast, saying they are now even. Using his heat vision to generate a smokescreen, the Heroes change & stop the invaders and leave to look for Cat Grant, assuming they already kidnapped her. Shockwave destroys the building where Gangbuster is being captive, and Chiller, disguised as Jose Delgado, kidnaps Cat Grant!
HAWKWORLD # 2 – June 1990 – “Enter ... Hawkman!” by John Ostrander, Tim Truman & Graham Nolan sees Hawkman & Hawkwoman taking on Byth, Darl Klus & the Furies in Chicago!
INFINITY INC. 46 - Jan. 1988! Todd Rice is visiting his new girlfriend Marcie Cooper when she reveals that she is actually a Manhunter and adopted a costumed identity as the new Harlequin! 47 – The team is joined by Tasmanian Devil as they face Solomon Grundy! 48 – Nuklon recalls his life so far! 49 - Nuklon learns that all is not well at the Trevor home when the mysterious (Jack Kirby’s) Sandman, master of dreams, is stalking Fury for unknown reasons-but the real surprise comes when the Sandman is unmasked, and revealed to be the supposedly dead Hector Hall! LEGENDS (DC LIMITED SERIES/1986-87)
2 – Dec. 1986 - "Breach of Faith!" by John Ostrander, Len Wein, John Byrne & Karl Kesel opens as Macro-Man lies dead on the ground, having been killed by Captain Marvel's lightning! Billy Batson feels guilty, as G. Gordon Godfey riles up the crowd at the scene! On Apokolips, Darkseid observes Billy Batson and laughs at his crushed spirit & reveals Macro-Man was possessed by the psionic entity Doctor Bedlam. Macro-Man was rigged to explode at Captain Marvel's lightning! Phantom Stranger arrives to argue with Darkseid about humanity, who then begins the second phase of Operation: Humiliation! Guy Gardner deals with a riot, Brimstone is battling the Justice League in New York City. Martian Manhunter is powerless because of his weakness to fire. Vibe destroys the ground underneath Brimstone and collapses a building on top of them all, burying them alive! Col. Rick Flag visits Deadshot in Riker's Island prison & is invited to join the mysterious Task Force X in exchange for an early release. Deadshot agrees and walks out of his cell with Flag! And a lot more happens!!
4 – Feb. 1987 – The President has outlawed Superheroes! Police are attacked by Count Vertigo, who is robbing a nearby bank. Black Canary arrives and takes down Vertigo, as the pro-hero cop is shot by the anti-hero cop, as Darkseid and the Phantom Stranger watch in a nearby alley. Darkseid says that humanity easily turns savage when you break down their society. In Skartaris, where Warlord is the champion of humanity, Darkseid sends DeSaad through a Boom Tube to destroy Warlord. The Joker murders several people with poison for his girlfriend, artist Fungus Soufflé. They kiss over the corpses. Batman arrives and takes down the Joker. Blue Beetle takes down Chronos, Flash vs. Boomerang & Dr. Fate is off on a mission, as Darkseid targets Superman!
5 – Mar. 1987 - "...and Let Slip the Dogs of War!" Billy Batson walks through streets that have been devastated by the anti-hero riots and transforms into Captain Marvel, the "wisdom of Solomon" helps him realize that Macro-Man was a setup! Dr. Fate unites Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Shazam, Guy Gardener, Changeling, The Flash, Batman & Superman, as Godfrey holds his next rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.. The gigantic crowd roars as he talks about overthrowing the government. Doctor Fate arrives with his group of heroes to challenge Godfrey…it seems either way, Darkseid has won…!
