About the Semen Test
Do you have a clothing item or stain you need to test for the presence of semen? The Semen Detection Test Strip gives instant results. A positive result turns the test strip bright purple.
- The semen detection test is a real evidence test, not a consumer toy. It is used in the field and in laboratories by forensic scientists.
- Unlike consumer tests sold online, there are no liquid chemicals to mix, allowing for failsafe results.
- You can optionally test several items with a single strip. To do so, cut the strip into pieces.
- Your order includes cotton swabs and nitrile gloves to use with the semen test
Answers to Questions
How old can the stain be?
The stain can be several years old if it has not been washed or degraded by heat or conditions.
What is the purpose of the swab?
Use the swab to transfer the stain from the item onto the AP test strip or PSA solution. This allows the stain to be undisturbed and available to be retested.
What if I want to do DNA tests?
Store the stained item in a un-sealed container and allow to air dry.
The Semen Test: Testing for Acid Phosphatase
Swab the Stain
Use water to moisten a swab. Rub the stain for at least 15 seconds to transfer the suspect stain to the swab.
Open the Test Strip
Open the test strip. The thick strip may split into two thin strips. If so both pieces can be used separately to do a test.
Apply the Swab to the Strip
Place the moistened swab with the stain on the test strip. If the swab is dry you can moisten it lightly.
Purple in 15 seconds is Positive
Semen will make the test turn purple in 15 seconds. Other body fluids may cause a reaction that takes longer than 15 seconds and is light in color.
