Original 1938 9 1/2 inch x 6 3/4 inch Silver Gelatin Portrait of IVOR NOVELLO in CREST OF THE WAVE at the Theatre Roral, Drury Lane.
Portrait by Angus McBean whose stamp is on the reverse.
Text attached to reverse: Ivor Novello - although you would not think so! He doubles the roles of hero and villain in “CREST OF THE WAVE”, the great Drury Lane success which he wrote and composed and which comes to Streatham Hill Theatre on March 16 for a short season..
Angus McBean was born in 1904 in Newbridge, Monmouthshire. He studied at Newport, and started as a full-time theatrical photographer in 1934, becoming noted for his individual approach to portraiture.
The portrait, on heavyweight paper, is in good to very good condition.
