Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here is a circa 1910's, pair of orchestra beats. They must have been popular plays because they both show more wear than we like to see. Mostly clean, but exhibiting numerous light scuffs and scratches, so background noise should be expected. Also, one edge chip on the A side intrudes into the first couple of grooves, so the opening notes are lost. For this reason we grade at just VG. The balance of the audio plays without interruption.
Side 627 presents a two-step, "Smoky Mokes" and side 78866 features, "Happy Days In Dixie". These great yesteryear tempos are performed by Prince's Orchestra.
