Seller's Description

1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.

Offered here is a circa 1910, acoustically pressed, pair of Columbia Mixed Quintette and Quartette recordings. A Grand Prize Label in pristinely clean and glossy condition, with no skips, cracks or chips. Minimal background hiss for a clear and faultless sound! Side 39892 presents "I'm A Pilgrim", with the soprano solo sung by Miriam Clark. Side 39893, "Lift Up Your Heads", both with orchestra accompaniment.
