Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here is a mostly clean and decent sounding pair of 1940's Claude Thornhill Orchestra jazz rhythms.
Side 37841 plays "Early Autumn", with vocal by Fran Warren, and side 38003 presents a favorite standard, "Oh You Beautiful Doll", with a Gene Williams vocal chorus. Some background noise will be heard due to moderate scuffs and scratches. One tiny edge chip on the B side does not affect the play. Mostly nice audio.
