Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here are the Latin sounds from the 1940's of Xavier Cugat and his Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra.
Side CO 29946 presents "Babalu", a Afro-Cubano beat with vocal chorus by Miguelito Valdez. Side CO 29947 lists, "Bambarito", a Guaracha Rumba, also with vocal by Miguelito Valdez.
More surface wear than we like to see and I'd like to wring the neck of the moron who defaced the label! Some gloss but too many scuffs and light scratches to command a higher price. Also, several hairline cracks are starting to show but as yet do NOT affect the play with any skips.
