The game of cat-and-mouse is on as Chromeskull’s assistant, Preston (Brian Austin Green, Desperate Housewives), scrambles to tie up the loose ends left behind after his deranged boss’s last killing spree. He finds that he likes taking care of business—maybe a little too much. One bloody mess leads to another and the bodies pile up in a visual feast of the most spectacular kills ever filmed. Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Danielle Harris (Hatchet II), and Owain Yeoman (The Mentalist), also star in the most brutal slasher film of the year. Chromeskull is back with a vengeance!
There is no question that Chromeskull, the killer from the first Laid to Rest movie, is angry; he's got a chrome mask painfully fused to his cranium, for starters, which could explain a lot of bad humor. In this sequel, Chromeskull has more victims to torment and a vast new array of ways to do his badness. Speaking of which, let's just jump to the film's main calling card: director Robert Hall, an accomplished make-up and F/X man, has devised some of the grisliest, most stomach-churning make-up effects in the slasher genre. If you've ever wondered what's inside a human head, this film will provide repeated viewings for your consideration. This gruesomeness is occasionally interrupted by a remarkably flimsy plot, the best of which features 90210 alum Brian Austin Green as Chromeskull's Igor character, an egotistical lackey who gets a little above his station (hint: when you submit yourself to a painful Chromeskull tattoo, you've lost perspective on your job). Green seems to be enjoying himself, which is more than you can say for the other folks wandering through this sadistic cleave-fest.
