Seller's Description

Original 1850s 10 inch x 6 5/8 inch Stipple and Etching titled INEZ (CHILDE HAROLD)

A woman in Spanish dress, sitting on the ground to right, looking up to left, fan in hand behind which she makes a pointing gesture, a castanet on the ground at left; other woman, including one dancing, beside a lake beyond at right, mountains in the distance.

Childe Harold's Pilgrimage is a lengthy narrative poem in four parts written by Lord Byron. It was published between 1812 and 1818 and is dedicated to "Ianthe". The poem describes the travels and reflections of a world-weary young man who, disillusioned with a life of pleasure and revelry, looks for distraction in foreign lands.
