Seller's Description
Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of JOYCE GRENFELL as Ruby Gates in the 1957 Frank Launder Comedy BLUE MURDER AT ST. TRINIANS.
Portrait by Ted Reed.
Text on the reverse: COMEDIENNE. One of Britain’s most gifted comediennes, Joyce Grenfell is famed for her brilliant cameo portrayals in stage revues and films. In “BLUE MURDER AT ST. TRINIANS,” Miss Grenfell again portrays Sergt. Gates, the local policewoman who has been trying desperately to ensnare her Police Superintendent into matrimony and this time she gets mixed up with the awful schoolgirls of St. Trinians on their trip to Italy, with disastrous results to her own love life.
Still by Ted Reed.
A Launder-Gilliat production for British Lion release, and for Overseas Distribution by Lion International, “BLUE MURDER AT ST. TRINIANS,” marks the return to the screen of those “fiends in human shape” created by Ronald Searle, with the fun fast and furious as St. Trinians is let loose on Europe. Directed by Frank Launder and produced by Sidney Gilliat, the cast is headed by Terry-Thomas, Joyce Grenfell and George Cole with Alastair Sim as Miss Fritton.
The portrait is in very good condition with minor surface marks.
