3 in 1 Tote Bag
Make this large, fashionable 3 in 1 tote bag and you will never have to change from bag to bag. Unbutton the jacket and turn it for a different look or leave off the jacket entirely for a third look.
The bag has a zipper closing and the jacket creates pockets for extra space.
Approximate finished size is 18 inches wide by 15 inches deep.
Requirements
.8 metre (32 inches) plain color for main bag and handles
.7 metre (28 inches) for lining and pocket
.5 metre (20 inches) of 2 focus fabrics for a two-sided bag jacket to coordinate with the main bag
.5 metre (20 inches) heavy weight interfacing for bag
.2 metre (8 inches) iron-on interfacing for handles
46 cm (18 inch) zipper to match main bag fabric
6 large (4cm - 1 ½ inch) buttons
Suitable fabrics
Plain color sport weight fabric for main bag
Print drapery, light weight upholstery or cotton fabric for bag jacket
Heavy weight muslin or denim for interfacing
Tip
• Choose different color ways and different prints for focus fabrics so that you have two looks for your bag — eg. one floral and one stripe or geometric
• Make and extra two-sided jacket and you have 5 bags!
• Embellish one side with metallic threads and beads
• lf you are using a light fabric for the focus fabrics interface one side with a lightweight interfacing
