Seller's Description

B & R DVD Volume 18 - Steam Nostalgia (Freight in the North-East)

I quote from the box:

‘This one-hour video is devoted entirely to the North-East of England in the days of steam. The first section deals with the last steam workings of Q6, J27, K1 and WD  classes at locations such as Seaton Bank, West Hartlepool, Dawdon and coverage of  the Silkswood Branch from the lineside, guards van and footplate. A typical run from Silkswood to Sunderland with freight is shown from on-board this working. Over 30- minutes of sheer nostalgia when steam locomotives worked hard on the tracks of British Railways.

The North-East was the birthplace of steam locomotives first used in industrial service and our second section covers fascinating locomotives in use at ports and collieries.  They range from the Lewin, built in 1863, working at Seaham Harbour, through crane tanks at Doxford, the large Lambton tank engines at Philadelphia, an ex-BR J94 in BR livery at work at Widdrington and examples of other locomotives at the various collieries of Northumberland like Ashington, Backworth and Whitttle systems.

Finally, tribute is paid to the work of the North-East Locomotive Preservation Group from their earliest days in 1970 when they restored their Q6 63395 to BR livery. Their  locos were to be seen immaculately turned out at Shildon in 1975 and lastly the Q6,  J27, K1 and Black 5 are seen hard at work on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in  1976 on various workings giving pleasure to thousands, some of whom will not  remember them in use over twenty years ago as shown in this video.’

Running time is approx 60 minutes.

I am not sure about the compatibility of overseas DVD players with UK DVDs.  If this is being purchased for overseas use, please ensure that your equipment is compatible.

The DVD will be posted in a good quality padded envelope.

If you buy multiple items I will adjust the postage and packing costs appropriately.

From UK buyers I accept payment by PayPal, UK Cheque or Postal Order. Non-UK buyers must pay by PayPal.
