1981 Endangered Species Limited Western Plain Zoo complete set of 6 stamps, limited edition of No. 542 of 2000 FIRST DAY COVER dated 1 & 15 July 1981, in very fine condition.

ENDANGERED SPECIES STAMPS This cover bears the complete set of six stamps issued by Australia Post in July, 1981 featuring endangered species of Australian animals. The stamps were issued on two dates (1^st and 15^th July) and bear First Day of Issue cancels with the special Western Plains Zoo cancellations. These special souvenir covers were poduced in a limited edition of only 2000 by the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo, one of whose prime objectives is the preservation of endangered species of animals. Some of these endangered species might find their last refuge in zoos like the Western Plains Zoo while others survive because of what zoos teach..
