Original 1851 6 7/8 inch x 4 3/4 inch engraving titled AQUEDUCT OF THE GREEK EMPERORS, NEAR PYRGO.
View of the Kirik Aqueduct (Kovuk Kemer), with figures and horses resting in foreground on the left.
Drawn by William Henry Bartlett (1809 - 1854). Topographical draughtsman. Apprenticed to the antiquary and publisher John Britton, for whom he made illustrations until 1831. Travelled extensively producing illustrations for travel books, both those written by others and his own. Exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Watercolour Society. Engraved by Robert William Wallis (1794 - 1878). Engraver of topographical and historical subjects.
