Seller's Description

Detailed Condtion : Please read full condition notes below! Unpolished, has what appears to be 2 small breaks in the ornamentation on the rim, somewhat rough inside.

This is an UNPOLISHED antique silverplated condiment dish with an E. G. Webster & Son hallmark and the number "411" on the bottom. This ornate footed dish measures about 7-1/4" x 2-1/2" x 1-7/8". On one side, there is a fairly elaborate engraving that reads:

Mr. & Mrs. A. S. Hill
Sister & Brother

From Mary 6/17/03

Condition Notes: This dish is UNPOLISHED. It is in fairly rough condition on the inside. The ornamentation on the rim at the center back side of the dish shows what appear to be two small breaks. I have indicated these with arrows in the fourth photo above. (The breaks can also be seen in the first and second photos.) The dish has lots of small scratches and dark marks from handling, storage and general aging over 120 years. It does not sit quite level although I don't see any problems with the feet.

This dish is a great example of the highly specialized holloware that emerged in nicer homes during the Victorian era. It would make an interesting addition to your collection, especially with its unusual engraving!
